This is the latest version of our video collection. Why the latest version? Because we’ve had to reconstruct it from scratch a number of times over the years. This last time, our hosting was infected by a virus and that led to every one of our backups being damaged and thus unusable. When we changed hosting, we initially decided not to put a list online, instead relying on more local content, but eventually it got unmanageable, trying to hunt down where the most recent copy of the database was and therefore, it got horribly out of date as we moved things around and didn’t record it. It was clear we needed an online list that could be accessed from anywhere, no matter where we were.
So here we are again.
This list is specifically made to be accessible, but also to be fail-proof. We have identical lists online and offline and when the list is updated offline, it is copied online. Hopefully this will forever stop the need to retype every damn thing in again. It’s not fun.
We used to be huge traders, back in the day before the Internet made such things largely irrelevant. We have thousands of series of TV, anime, cartoons, documentary, J-drama, tokusatsu, etc. We also have tons of anime, tokusatsu, kaiju, TV and cartoon soundtracks that aren’t even on this list, we have that archived elsewhere, as well as our commercial DVDs, of which we have thousands.
First, I want to make it clear that we do not sell anything on this list. Period. Ever. Don’t bother asking.
Secondly, while we’re not active traders anymore, if there is something that we’ve been looking for, I have no problem setting up an individual trade. By all means, ask if there’s something you’re interested in.
The process is simple. As we add things to our collection, we’ll place it in a weekly list. At the end of the week, or when I get to it, I’ll transfer each of those items to the appropriate page and start over on the next weekly list. It makes sure that every single item that we get is properly recorded in a timely manner. Luckily, once the pages are built, this is a relatively quick and painless process.
Thanks for looking in.
For those who are curious how large the collection is, here is at least a small part of it:
How much is that? Let’s figure it out, shall we?
Each of the big binders hold 520 DVDs. That gives us 25×520 = 13,000. The mid-size hold 340, which gives us 15×340=5,100. The smallest size hold 96 each and are generally ongoing series. That’s 10×96=960. So, just in this case alone, we have 19,060 DVDs. This is, of course, not the whole collection by a longshot, you can see a couple of plastic DVD containers that are holding another 250 or so that we’re waiting to put away, and we have a huge pile of those elsewhere piled up that need to be filed away. Add to that nearly 1000 anime music CDs on another rack, tons of commercial DVDs stored elsewhere, etc., and the collection starts to take on truly epic proportions.
About the Listings:
We try to make the listings relatively universal, but some types of shows need slightly different styles of listings, hopefully most of it is self-explanatory.
We do list a “type” on most listings, here’s what those crazy letters mean:
C – Complete. We have the entire series.
I – Incomplete. The series has ended but we do not have all of it and we are actively hunting for episodes, or waiting for episodes to come out.
O – Ongoing. The series is still running and we are actively collecting the series.
D – Dropped. The series may be ongoing or ended, but we stopped collecting it and will not be getting any more.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
